We hate the word as much as you do.

Most platforms throw “verified” around without backing it up. Here's what we check on every crew, by hand.

And what we don't check

Worth being just as specific about. We verify that a crew is insured. We do not verify that a crew is good.

• Workmanship. We don't inspect finished roofs, test crews, or assess anyone's skill. The star ratings on a profile come from contractors who actually hired them — not from us.
• A crew's references. They're optional and don't decide whether a crew is listed. The count on a profile isn't us endorsing the crew.
• Whether their coverage fits your job. We review the certificate and track its expiry. Limits, exclusions and whether it suits the work you're hiring for are yours to read on the certificate.
• A contractor's statement about licensing. A person here reviews a contractor's insurance and any license it uploads. A contractor can instead tell us its state doesn't require a roofing contractor license; we record that as its own statement and don't check it, and a crew it awards work to sees it described exactly that way.
• Criminal background checks. We don't run them, on the company or on individual workers.
• Individual roofers. A roofer can list themselves for crew leaders to find, and we check nothing about them beyond a working email address — not their background, not their qualifications, not their right to work. We verify companies, not people, and we don't claim otherwise.
• Job sites. We're never on one. We don't supervise, schedule, or direct any crew's work.

“Verified” means the documents checked out on the day we looked at them. It is a floor to hire above, not a recommendation — you still pick the crew.

What we are, and what we aren't

The question everyone asks in the first call, answered the same way we'd answer it on the phone.

• Not a staffing agency. That's the distinction that actually matters. We employ nobody, we're nobody's employer of record, and we take no cut of what you pay a crew — no markup on their labor, no per-hire fee, no commission. You contract with the crew directly, at whatever the two of you agree. What you pay us for is the verification and the platform.
• Job board is the fairer word for part of it — and we'd rather own that than dodge it. But neither of ours is open. A contractor's posting is visible only to crews that already cleared verification, and is never public or indexed. The public roofing-jobs board runs the other way round: verified crews hiring individual roofers.
• We verify companies, not people. A person here reviews and approves each crew's certificate of insurance. An individual roofer's background, qualifications and right to work are not checked by us — that's between them and whoever hires them.

The process, end to end

   Crew submits documents

   A certificate of insurance, uploaded through the platform. Signing up is free and takes a minute; the insurance is what turns an account into a listing. A W-9 is asked for too — contractors need it to pay you — but it doesn't hold the listing up. No license asked for. References are optional.

2. 2

   Our team starts verification

   We start within 1 business day. A person reviews the certificate of insurance and its expiry date, then approves or declines it — most crews are fully verified in 3–5 business days.

3. 3

   Crew signed off

   With the certificate approved, a person signs the crew off. Nothing verifies itself, and references, if a crew lists any, don't hold this up.

4. 4

   Status flips to Verified

   Once everything checks out, the crew is verified and appears in contractor search, which shows verified crews by default.

   Re-checked continuously

   We track the expiry on every certificate. The day a crew's insurance lapses it drops out of search, and stays out until it renews.
